Learning to drive is not a one-off purchase. It is a relationship built across lessons, changing schedules, payments, and visible progress. A digital platform needs to support that whole relationship.

Flexstructor is our driving-instructor marketplace venture. We designed it to connect the learner's search for the right instructor with the instructor's everyday business tools. It demonstrates how a specialised marketplace can become more useful than a directory with a checkout attached.

The opportunity: make the next lesson easier

Learners need to discover instructors, understand the offer, and find a suitable time. Instructors need a workable schedule, clear pricing, and a way to manage their business. Those needs are connected, but they are not identical.

The product design starts with two distinct journeys. Discovery gives the learner location and profile context. Business tools give the instructor a view of the work ahead. The platform brings the journeys together at the booking, then continues supporting the relationship after payment.

Availability with a business model behind it

A calendar alone does not express how an instructor sells their time. Flexstructor includes recurring availability, date-based pricing, and lesson-package workflows. The interface makes these concepts accessible without asking users to think in database terms.

A learner can move from discovery to a lesson choice while the instructor maintains their availability and offerings. For a marketplace operator, the important design decision is to keep the commercial rules and the scheduling model aligned. Otherwise, exceptions become manual work for the operator.

Beyond the transaction

Lesson packages and progress interfaces extend the product beyond the initial booking. They offer a way to represent an ongoing relationship, with package-funded lesson booking and a learner-facing progress passport.

These features create opportunities for continuity and repeat use. They should not be confused with evidence of improved pass rates or customer retention; those would require measurement. The demonstrable work is the connected product journey and the screens that make it tangible.

A shared experience across devices

The implementation uses Orchard Core, ASP.NET Core, Blazor, PostgreSQL, and Stripe payment tooling. Shared UI components support the web and MAUI hybrid application foundations, while location-aware discovery uses explicit geographic indexing.

That architecture supports a practical product goal: keep the familiar booking and account experience consistent while allowing each device to handle its own capabilities. Authentication, instructor and learner roles, payment events, and booking rules remain application concerns rather than being scattered through the interface.

What this demonstrates

Flexstructor shows how a vertical marketplace can connect acquisition, scheduling, payments, and continued service delivery. The same product thinking applies to tuition, coaching, training, and other businesses where a customer books a person's expertise over time.

The starting point for a new project is the operating model: what is sold, who controls availability, how cancellations work, and what makes a repeat booking valuable. Explore our process or discuss a specialist booking platform.

Questions about a similar platform

Could this approach support a driving school with multiple instructors?

Yes. Organisation structure, instructor permissions, shared scheduling, and commercial rules would be defined for the school during discovery.

Can packages and individual lessons coexist?

Flexstructor demonstrates both lesson and package concepts. A client platform would define eligibility, balances, cancellation rules, and pricing explicitly.
